Salesforce in Claude is an AE plugin, not a shop phone
Salesforce in Claude is Anthropic's beta seller plugin: 37 skills, CRM writes after you approve. Not a $3k–$6k one-time Slack agent you own.
Salesforce in Claude sounds like the CRM product owners have been waiting for. It is not, unless you already live in Salesforce, pay for Claude, and have an account executive whose day is briefs, call prep, and stage changes.
Anthropic released Salesforce in Claude in beta on September 16, 2026. It is a plugin built with Salesforce: 37 skills for account research, call prep, pipeline review, and CRM updates, plus Salesforce and Slack connectors. Claude reads what your Salesforce permissions already allow. By default it asks a human to approve each write.
That is a supervised seller desk. It is not the shop phone, and it is not Jobber.
What actually shipped in Salesforce in Claude?
Salesforce in Claude is a beta plugin on paid Claude plans. An admin connects Salesforce once. Sellers sign in with their own credentials. Claude can summarize accounts, draft opportunity updates, log calls, create follow-up tasks, and pull Slack deal threads — then wait for approval.
Anthropic names four daily loops. A morning brief lists meetings, deals closing soon, at-risk opportunities, and unread threads. Call prep pulls open opportunities, recent Slack and email, and missing contacts. Pointed at a deal, Claude scores gaps and drafts a close plan. After a meeting, it turns a transcript or notes into a follow-up email, a Slack deal-channel summary, and staged Salesforce fields.
Salesforce stays the system of record. Admins request the plugin through AgentExchange. Anthropic says GitLab, Siemens, and Legora have it in, and that 7,000 Salesforce sellers already use it.
If you already read today’s Claude SMB workflows note, keep them straight. That post is Cowork playbooks plus a long connector list. This one is a seller plugin aimed at accounts, opportunities, and pipeline — not a salon book or a HVAC job board.
Does Salesforce in Claude replace a CRM agent I own?
No. It is Claude, in Claude, writing to Salesforce after you click yes. An owned agent sits in the channel your team already uses, writes the same kind of note, and keeps working when nobody has the Claude app open.
Trigger: a meeting ends, a deal slips, or the morning brief fires.
AI action: draft the note, the stage change, the follow-up task, the Slack summary.
System of record: Salesforce. Not the Claude thread.
Human escalation: the seller approves the write, or a manager takes the forecast narrative. A live inbound call still needs a person or a receptionist.
That map is AI CRM integration with a Salesforce skin. It helps a five-person sales pod that already pays for Salesforce and Slack. It does nothing for a three-truck shop on Housecall Pro whose leak is a missed estimate call.
Claude Team and Enterprise still default to no training on your data, per Anthropic. Permissions still come from Salesforce. None of that puts an agent on a locked Slack room you own after I leave.
Who should ignore this plugin this week?
Ignore it if you do not run Salesforce, if your “CRM” is Jobber or a sheet, or if the actual leak is the inbound line. Install it only if you already have AEs drowning in prep and your admin will connect the org.
I still hand-deploy a Slack AI Agent for $3,000–$6,000 one time when a 10-to-250 person company wants the same loop inside Slack: capture, structured note, write to the CRM, assign an owner, escalate the exception. You own the setup. I do not bill a seat. Claude’s plugin is a subscription surface on Anthropic’s plans. Different product, different owner.
This post went out through the same Discord agent I sell. The plugin in Claude is news. The workflow around your system of record is the job.
If the leak is Salesforce hygiene for a sales team, say so on a short form. I reply with the replacement map within 24 hours.
