Website Not Loading on Phone: Checks Before You Pay

Website not loading on phone while the laptop is fine? Check cellular, an old copy, HTTPS, and layout. I fix a break from $99 a month, cancel any time.

Overhead industrial light on a warehouse mail-room wall: website not loading on phone as a wide cardboard chute left open with a large crate inside, a narrow steel slot jammed by a bent flap, and a small parcel on the floor in front of the slot.

Your laptop is a bad witness. A website not loading on phone can still look finished on the wide screen at the counter, because the page a customer opens is a smaller window, a different connection, and sometimes an older copy stored on that phone.

The shop test hides the failure. The customer never sees your laptop.

Short answer: A website not loading on phone, while the laptop is fine, is usually a small layout, a redirect, a cached copy, or a page the phone never finishes. Check it on a phone away from the shop Wi-Fi. If something broke, Managed Website Hosting & Care fixes it from $99 a month, and you can cancel any time.

Why is the website not loading on phone when the laptop looks fine?

A website not loading on phone, with the laptop still fine, usually means the small layout, a redirect, a cached copy, or a page the phone never finishes. The wide window is the wrong test. Check a phone off the shop Wi-Fi before you pay for a rebuild.

A theme can paint the wide window and fall apart on the narrow one: overlapping text, a menu that will not open, or a blank area where the page should be. A redirect can split the same way. The laptop lands. The phone loops, or keeps an old copy the laptop never saved.

Say you run a hardware store. The office computer shows the right hours, and a customer in the lot says the page will not come up.

If the page starts and never finishes, that is weight, covered in why a site feels slow. This post is the laptop that works and the phone that does not.

What should I check before I pay anyone?

Open the page on a phone using cellular data, then ask one other person to open the same link. Run the free health check for HTTPS, speed, and redirects. Note whether the whole site fails or one page does. Do not delete the live site to test it.

  1. Turn off the shop Wi-Fi and open the exact link the customer sent.
  2. Ask one other person to open that link. One phone failing can be an old copy. Every phone failing is the site.
  3. Try the homepage and the page they named.
  4. Run the free website health check. It reads HTTPS, SSL, speed, and redirects. It will not redesign the page.

If you use WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, or Shopify, look at the last change. A plugin or theme update is a common point where the wide view survives and the narrow one does not. If you cannot log in, say that in the email. Do not take the site offline, and do not move the domain on a guess.

When is a phone failure a fix, and when is it a rebuild?

A layout that broke after an update or a bad redirect is a fix. A template that was never usable on a small screen is a redesign, and I quote that as a fixed price before any work starts. Care does not replace a rebuild.

Fixing something that broke on my watch is included. Restoring a backup is included.

Text, photos, hours, a new post, or a new section go by email to michael@michaelheredia.com. A link or a screenshot helps. Those use the monthly time first, then $125 an hour, and I tell you before going over. Unused time does not roll over.

A template that cannot work on a small screen is a redesign. Redesigns, new features, online stores, and integrations are a fixed price before any work starts.

What does the plan do when phones cannot open the site?

Every plan includes hosting, SSL, daily backups stored separately, updates, monitoring around the clock, security hardening, and a fix when something breaks. Business tests updates on a staging copy before they go live. Small text and photo changes use the monthly time, then $125 an hour.

On Business and Priority I test updates on a staging copy before they go live. Essentials includes the updates and does not include that staging test. Security hardening means locked-down logins, firewall rules, and safe defaults.

Monitoring runs around the clock. It catches a site that is down for everyone. It does not grade a layout. On Essentials and Business, an outage goes to the front of the line during business hours. Priority gets 24/7 response if the site goes down.

You can keep your current hosting at the same price. Your host keeps billing you, and I keep a daily backup stored separately. Priority’s dedicated server applies only when I host. The WordPress maintenance page is that care for a WordPress site. Moving one standard site in is included: I copy it, test it, then switch the domain at a quiet time. You keep the domain and the content, and you can ask for a complete copy any time. You do not manage a server login or a control panel.

Which plan fits a site that fails on a phone?

Essentials is $99 a month, with 30 minutes of changes and a reply in 2 business days. Business is $249 a month, with 1 hour of changes and updates tested on staging. Priority is $499 a month, with 3 hours and 24/7 response if the site goes down.

PlanPriceWhat you get
Essentials$99 a monthHosting and SSL, separate daily backups, updates, monitoring, security hardening, 30 minutes of changes, a reply within 2 business days. Malware cleanup is $125 an hour. Fixes and restores are included.
Business (most popular)$249 a monthEverything in Essentials, 1 hour of changes, updates tested on a staging copy before they go live, malware cleanup included.
Priority$499 a monthEverything in Business, 3 hours of changes, a dedicated server when I host, and 24/7 response if the site goes down.

“Most popular” is only the label on Business. See the plans.

When this isn’t the right fit

This is the wrong fit if your staff already handles updates and fixes, or if the template cannot work on a small screen and needs a redesign first. A large store or a custom app gets a fixed quote before a move. Care is for a site that already exists.

If the pages were never built for a phone, start with web development. I quote that work before it starts.

On cancel, the plan runs to the end of the paid month. Before it ends, you get a full copy of the site and help pointing the domain to a new host.

See the plans or send a question through the hosting form. You pick a plan and check out in a couple of minutes. An email arrives within 1 business day to start onboarding.
