The leak has a name before it has a product. One Lane vs MCP is that name, with a price on each side.

One Lane is $3,500 once for one tedious ops job you already do by hand. Business MCP is Look Up $3,500, Desk $7,500, or Floor $14,000 once when a customer must book, pay, contact, or schedule from ChatGPT, Claude, or Grok. You own whichever build you buy. I do not bill a subscription.

Short answer: One Lane vs MCP is two different leaks. One Lane is $3,500 once for one named ops job, such as chasing an invoice or copying Friday’s numbers. MCP Desk is $7,500 once when a stranger in ChatGPT, Claude, or Grok has to finish a booking. If the phone is the leak, or the web app needs a review, neither of those two is the buy.

A plumbing owner asked me to “automate the office.” That office was three jobs: QuickBooks invoices nobody chased, ChatGPT visitors who still had to call, and a night phone on voicemail. One $3,500 lane does not cover all three.

What is One Lane vs MCP actually comparing?

It compares one repeating back-office job with a customer doorway into the system of record. One Lane copies or chases inside tools you already pay for. A Business MCP lets ChatGPT, Claude, or Grok read that system and write only the fields you named. Same shop. Different leak.

One Lane is the invoice chase, the Friday report, the form that should already be a CRM row, or the bookkeeping copy. It is not a chat bot. The price on the One Lane price is $3,500 once, for one named job. A second job is a second quote.

Which price matches which leak?

Match the price to the leak before you pick a vendor. One Lane is $3,500 once. MCP Look Up is $3,500, Desk is $7,500, and Floor is $14,000. The receptionist is $8,000 once. A security review is $2,400, and $1,200 starts it.

Zapier Professional at 750 tasks is $19.99 a month billed annually: $479.76 over 24 months, $719.64 over 36. Cheaper than $3,500, and still a toolbox. If a zap already does the job, do not pay me.

When should the invoice chase stay One Lane?

Keep One Lane when you can point at one job a person still does every week in QuickBooks, Jobber, HubSpot, or a sheet. The usual first lane is one overdue invoice, one reminder, and a stop when they pay or reply. That is not a booking window.

Trigger, then action, then the system of record, then a human.

  • Trigger: an invoice crosses the age you already use, often 7 days past due.
  • Action: send the reminder you already approved, in your voice, once.
  • System of record: QuickBooks, or Jobber if that is where the invoice lives. The CRM gets a note only if you named that field.
  • Human escalation: they dispute the amount, the balance does not match, or a second reminder would be you nagging. That row waits for you.

That map is the invoice follow-up I already sell as its own lane. It does not hold a Tuesday slot. It does not pick up the phone.

When is One Lane the wrong buy?

One Lane is the wrong buy when the sentence is not an ops job. A ChatGPT visitor who still cannot book is Desk. A missed after-hours call is the receptionist. An app that needs a review before it takes cards is the security review.

ChatGPT booking stays on Business MCP. Look Up at $3,500 only reads: hours, service area, whether you are booked. Desk at $7,500 is the default when they must book, pay, contact, or schedule. Floor at $14,000 is the wider rule sheet across more than one system, still one-time. I compared leftover chat rooms with that doorway on MCP vs chat bots. A Telegram or Discord bot is not the substitute.

Missed calls are the AI Receptionist at $8,000 once. The live demo line is +1 (832) 861-0469. An invoice lane will not answer the truck phone.

A web app that takes logins or card data is a Web Application Security Review at $2,400 per app, $1,200 to start. I write it within 48 hours after access. I do not name clients. I do not put exploit steps in the PDF. That review is not an MCP, and it is not a QuickBooks copy.

If the public site does not convert, that is a quoted web build, not a lane.

When this isn’t the right move yet

Wait when you cannot name the job in one sentence, the source system is a mess, or you are buying the lane to avoid a phone, a doorway, or a review you already know you need. A clean sentence is the whole qualification.

Do not buy yet if:

  • The “one job” is actually four: chase, booking, the phone, and the Friday sheet.
  • Jobber or QuickBooks is so dirty that a copy would spread bad rows.
  • A zap, a QuickBooks reminder, or a HubSpot workflow already does this and you trust it.
  • Nobody is arriving from ChatGPT. An MCP on an empty calendar writes empty appointments.
  • You want a pentest and a booking path on the same invoice. I will not bundle them.

A lane on a blank board is a $3,500 copy of nothing.

What do you check before you pay?

Name the leak in one line, name the system of record, and name the row that should stop and wait for you. If you cannot fill that card, you are not ready for the $3,500, and I would rather say so before you pay.

If the card is full, send the audit form. It is a short form. I reply with the replacement map within 24 hours. If you would rather talk through the workflow and whether One Lane fits, book a 20-minute call.

FAQ

How much is One Lane vs MCP? +

One Lane is $3,500 once for one named ops job, such as the invoice chase. Business MCP is Look Up at $3,500, Desk at $7,500, or Floor at $14,000, one-time, when a customer must book or pay from ChatGPT, Claude, or Grok. I do not add a subscription. A second job is a second quote.

When is One Lane the wrong buy? +

When the leak is not one repeating ops job. A stranger who found you in ChatGPT and still cannot book is Desk at $7,500, not the invoice chase. Missed calls are the receptionist at $8,000 once. An authorized web app review is $2,400, with $1,200 to start. The $3,500 lane will not fix those.

What does the $3,500 not include? +

ChatGPT booking, phone answering, a security review, and a second workflow. Your Jobber, QuickBooks, HubSpot, and Zapier bills stay yours. I do not replace a bookkeeper, and I do not put exploit steps in a PDF. You own the one runbook you signed. Anything past that named job is a new quote.

When should I wait to buy One Lane? +

Wait if you cannot name the job in one sentence, the source records are a mess, or a zap you already trust finishes it. Also wait if the real leak is the phone, the public site, or a customer who bounced in ChatGPT. A lane on a blank Jobber board copies empty rows.
